Oklahoma tribes sharing more gaming revenues

Oklahoma tribes are sharing more gaming revenues with the state, according to the Office of State Finance.

In fiscal year 2009, tribes contributed $106 million to the state, a record amount. The growth came despite a 10 percent drop in revenues in June.

"We pull in a lot more out-of-state gamers,” state Treasurer Scott Meacham told The Oklahoman. "And our facilities, if you look at what’s happened over the last five years, we’ve tremendously upgraded the quality of travel gaming facilities in the state."

Tribes with Class III gaming compacts share a percentage of revenues from electronic gaming machines and table games with the state.
