Little River Band won't use entire site for casino

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians is only asking for a portion of an off-reservation gaming site in Muskegon, Michigan, to be placed in trust.

The tribe purchased 223 acres for a casino but only asked for about 40 to 60 acres to be placed in trust, a local official said. The remainder of the site would be used for non-gaming development, the official said.

The tribe operates a casino on its reservation in Manistee, about 80 miles from the Muskegon site.
