Overwhelming majority in Texas for tribal gaming

A poll commissioned by a pro-gaming group finds that 75 percent of Texans support slot machines at tribal facilities and at race tracks.

When asked about slots at tribal facilities, 63 percent supported the idea. When told about the potential benefits to the economy, support jumped to 75 percent.

The Texas Legislature is considering a bill to allow the Tigua Tribe and the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe to reopen their casinos. The federal courts said the tribes agreed to a state ban on gaming so the bill changes state law.
