Muscogee Nation in dispute over gaming revenues

A dispute over gaming revenues pits the chief of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma against the tribal council.

Chief A.D. Ellis issued an executive order last week that prevents six communities from controlling casino funds. He filed a lawsuit to seek an accounting of spending by the communities, citing potential abuse.

The Creek National Council responded with its own lawsuit, accusing Ellis of acting without authority. Both cases will be heard in tribal court on March 17.
