Poll finds broad support for Massachusetts gaming

Nearly every socio-economic group in Massachusetts supports commercial gaming, according to a survey from the Center for Policy Analysis at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.

According to Playing the Odds I, 57 percent of adults support a proposal to authorize two ore more casinos in the state. Only 31 percent opposed the idea.

"The dam has broken among Massachusetts residents," said center director Clyde W. Barrow in a press release. "Support for resort casinos is deep and wide, and growing majorities of Massachusetts citizens believe the fiscal and economic benefits will far outweigh any real or imagined social costs."

The only group against the idea are people with a masters or doctoral degree, according to the survey.
