Lac du Flambeau Band signs new Class III compact

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians has signed a Class III gaming compact with the state of Wisconsin.

The 25-year deal requires the tribe to pay $3.7 million to the state for not making payments over the last five years. Another $500,000 will be paid over the next decade.

Additionally, the tribe agreed to pay $738,000 this year and a percentage of net winnings from the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino and Bingo, starting in 2010. In exchange, the tribe will get to increase betting limits and add more slot machines and table games to the casino.

A copy of the compact can be found at the state Department of Administration site.
