Fort Sill Apache Tribe offers bingo in New Mexico

The Fort Sill Apache Tribe of New Mexico began offering paper bingo games at its gaming facility in New Mexico on Thursday.

Chairman Jeff Houser met with state police officers just as the first game got underway. "We agreed to keep the lines of communication open and to let them know of any changes we make" in our operations, he told The Las Cruces Sun-News. "They're not shutting us down."

The Apache Homelands Casino is on trust land but the National Indian Gaming Commission and the state of New Mexico claim it can't be used for gaming.
