Non-Indian card clubs in California see increase

Non-Indian card clubs in California have seen an increase in revenues, according to the state Gambling Control Commission.

One facility is capitalizing on the gain. Lucky Chances Casino, the largest non-Indian card club in northern California, wants to add more tables to its operation.

"We're worried about the economy affecting all of our businesses," Colma City Manager Laura Allen told The San Mateo County Times. "So far, that card room has proved to be recession resistant ... whether that can be sustained over a long period of time, that is a question in my mind."

The city council is holding a public meeting today to discuss the expansion.
