Editorial: Good news for Blue Lake casino hotel

"It's with a strong sense of joy and relief that we report this week that the Blue Lake Rancheria has completed a major construction project.

The Blue Lake Casino Hotel is now ready to open its doors.

The 102-room facility, while slightly modified in scope due to a sluggish economy, is still something to behold, both for its scale and for the fact that leaders of the Blue Lake Rancheria seemingly did everything they could to craft this facility to be friendly to both its customers and the environment.

Additionally, the news of the hotel's completion obviously comes in what has been a long dry spell for positive business news. It may seem redundant for us to point this out, but the North Coast economy has been languishing in the throes of this local and national recession, with area businesses doing everything they can to merely survive.

And here in this financial desert blooms a new hotel, slightly smaller from lack of water but seemingly sturdy nonetheless.

Coupled with this victory in the face of hard times, the facility has been designed and built with energy efficiency at the forefront. It utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to achieve maximum energy conservation, and Rancheria officials say this is not at the expense of comfort or luxury."
