Kickapoo Tribe sued by former casino manager

A former casino employee is accusing the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas of violating its Indian preference laws.

Robert Nanomantube is a not a member of the tribe but he is a Kickapoo descendant and he lives in the state. He says the tribe violated its Indian preference policy by hiring a non-Indian as the general manager of the Golden Eagle Casino.

Nanomantube served as acting general manager from September 2004 until December 2008. He is asking for more than $100,000 in damages in his lawsuit that was filed in federal court.
