Town waits to spend Wampanoag casino funds

Leaders in the town of Middleboro, Massachusetts, are waiting on the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe before they spend money for a proposed casino.

The town has received $750,000 for casino planning and infrastructure. About $250,000 has been spent, with leaders waiting on a letter from the tribe to approve additional expenditures.

The tribe wants to build a $500 million resort in the town though a deal with investors has apparently fallen through. The tribe's land-into-trust application is still being reviewed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
