Laid off Pequot casino employees look for jobs

Former gaming employees of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation are looking for new jobs with the help of the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board.

The tribe laid off about 700 employees at Foxwoods Resort Casino last year. About 165 of them have used the board's service to train for new jobs.

The tribe's chairman, Michael Thomas, has been placed on administrative leave for disclosing the tribe's "dire financial" condition to its members.
