The Florida Legislature's Select Committee on Seminole Indian Compact Review voted 17-0 against a Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe.
Lawmakers said a deal the tribe signed with Gov. Charlie Crist (R) was unfair. They wanted the tribe to share more revenues with the state and they said the tribe is not entitled to table games.
The tribe has been offering slot machines and table games under an earlier compact that was approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A new deal was negotiated after the Florida Supreme Court said Crist acted outside of his authority.
The tribe could ask the Interior Department to issue Class III procedures in order to continue offering the games.
