California tribes in Palm Springs for gaming conference

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association kicks off the annual Western Indian Gaming Conference in Pam Springs today.

This year's hot topic is Internet gaming. Tribal leaders and regulators are hosting a number of sessions to discuss what CNIGA Chairman Daniel J. Tucker calls a threat to the tribal casino industry.

Other topics on the schedule include Class II gaming, "green" casinos, government contracting and financing. A gubernatorial panel was scheduled to take place Thursday.

Registration was free this year to all participants.
