Chickasaw woman begins job at Indian gaming agency

Steffani A. Cochran, a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, began work at the National Indian Gaming Commission last week.

Cochran is serving as a commissioner on the agency that regulates the tribal casino industry. She has worked for tribes and for the state of New Mexico.

"Gaming is unquestionably a vital component of tribal economies, which is one reason that I am so excited about this opportunity," Cochran said in a press release.

Cochran joins acting NIGC Chair George Skibine at the agency. Norm DesRosiers, a Bush administration holdover, will leave his post on January 31.
