Scotts Valley Band urged on casino closer to home

Some members of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians of California are trying to convince their tribe to open a casino closer to home.

The tribe has proposed a casino in Richmond, about 100 miles from tribal headquarters. Former chairman Les Miller says that's too far from the tribe's homeland.

“We are not from Richmond,” Miller said at a rally on Friday, The Lake County News reported. “We will not move to Richmond.”

Miller is circulating a petition that urges the tribe to buy the shuttered Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa and turn it into a casino.
