Oklahoma tribes on track to share $120M in casino revenue

Oklahoma tribes with Class III gaming compacts will share about $120 million a year with the state by the end of this fiscal year.

That's about 14 percent higher than the amount they shared in the last fiscal year. And it's 48 percent higher than the amount shared two years ago.

"It's one of the best moves that we made,” Carl Pope, a former lawmaker who supported the compact, said at the Sovereignty Symposium, The Oklahoman reported. "The way that those numbers have continued to grow and economic activity continued to grow pans that out.”

Gaming in Oklahoma has continued to grow even as tribes elsewhere have been hit by the recession.
