City backing for Guidiville Band casino not expected until 2011

The Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians still has a long way to go in its quest for a casino in Richmond, California.

The tribe plans to build the $1.2 billion Point Molate Resort at the Point Molate Naval Fuel Depot. The city council set a deadline of April 2011 to sell the site to the tribe and its developer, Upstream Point Molate.

The council must also certify the the final environmental study for the project. A vote won't happen until sometime next year, The Contra Costa Times reported.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has released a draft environmental impact statement and environmental impact report for the casino.
