Gun Lake Tribe shoots for January 2011 opening of delayed casino
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, hopes to open its casino in January 2011. The tribe secured a $165 million loan to finish the Gun Lake Casino, which broke ground last September. A specific opening date is anticipated soon. "We're going to shoot for January," John Shagonaby, the chief executive of the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority, told The Grand Rapids Press. "It's all an estimate at this point. Once we get a couple of months into construction, we'll be able to have a better idea." The 83,000-square-foot facility will feature 1,400 slot machines and 28 table games. It will employ 600 people.
