Choctaw Nation gains approval for alcohol sales at casino

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma won approval to sell liquor at its newest casino.

All liquor sales will go through Delaware North, a concessions company. Restaurants and bars at the Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant will be able to sell wine, beer and mixed drinks.

“To compete in the marketplace, it’s really expected by the people that come to our casino," gaming director Janie Dillard told The Durant Democrat. This is a business and this is just one of the things that goes along with it.”

Dillard said the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the tribe's liquor ordinance.
