City extends discussions for casino deal with Guidiville Band

The city council in Richmond, California, voted 4-2 to extend negotiations for a casino deal with the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians.

The city has until April 2011 to sell the Point Molate Naval Fuel Depot to the tribe and its partners. The purchase price for the site is $50 million.

The tribe plans to build the $1.2 billion Point Molate Resort at the site. The tribe is promising at least $16.6 million annually to the city under a 20-year municipal services agreement.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has released a draft environmental impact statement and environmental impact report for the project.
