Mohegan Tribe extends health coverage for casino workers

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has extended its health insurance policy to cover dependents of Mohegan Sun employees.

The national health reform law requires employers to extend dependent coverage to young adults up to the age of 26. The tribe beat a federal deadline to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"We believe that allowing dependents the time to transition into their own plans and onto a healthy young adulthood is in the best interest of our entire community," Chairwoman Lynn Malerba said in a statement, The New London Day reported.
