Redding Rancheria casino suffers from electricity blackouts

The casino owned by the Redding Rancheria of California has suffered six blackouts in recent months, The Redding Record-Searchlight reports.

The tribe buys power from the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and has a backup diesel generator. But that apparently hasn't been enough to power the Win-River Casino adequately.

To address the issue, the tribe wants to become a customer of Redding Electric Utility, owned by the city of Redding. The deal would power the casino, tribal buildings and homes on the 30-acre reservation.
