Mohegan Tribe waits to finalize casino plans in Massachusetts

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut won't finalize plans for a casino in Massachusetts until lawmakers settle on a gaming bill, an executive said.

The tribe wants to build a casino in Palmer, in the western part of the state. Preliminary plans call for a 600-room hotel, 3,000 slot machines, 100 table games, shops and restaurants but local supporters want more information

“We have been open and transparent and available to answer questions," Mohegan Sun chief operating officer Jeffrey Hartmann told The Boston Herald. “But it’s premature to commit to a final program. It’s all dependent upon the final legislation, the tax rate and mitigation costs for the community, among other things.”
