Column: Bus service to California tribal casinos offers nice ride

"Most casinos these days have free (or cheap) shuttle service from cities and park-and-ride lots around the Bay Area. But for gamblers who'd rather travel in style, there's the Bingo Casino Shuttle Service.

This option is a 21-seat bus that can be chartered for any night of the week. The benefit: The shuttle picks patrons up wherever they choose to be picked up and drives them to many Northern California cardrooms or casinos - from River Rock Casino in Geyserville to Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln (Placer County).

The bus also goes to race tracks (including Golden Gate Fields in Albany) and bingo halls (hence the bingo portion of the company name).

The cost: $50 per person round trip, and $35 per person for senior citizens.

The business is the brainchild of Dollene Jones, a 21-year veteran of Alameda/Contra Costa Transit who retired earlier this year. After a lifetime of driving buses, Jones decided she wanted to serve different kinds of customers in a different niche."
