Connecticut tribes hope for a big Labor Day weekend at casinos

It's been a rough couple of years for Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes but they are looking forward to a big Labor Day weekend at their casinos.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe are hosting big-name concerts like Donna Summer and Aerosmith and they are promoting a number of special events. Hurricane Earl might put a damper on the festivities but executives aren't too worried.

"We're watching it; we've met on it and we're still meeting on it," Robert Victoria, the chief marketing officer for Foxwoods Resort Casino, told The New London Day.

In July, both tribes reported an increase in their slot machine wins, a first in more than two years.
