Red Cliff Band set to begin construction on $23.5M casino resort

The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Wisconsin is ready to break ground on a $23.5 million casino resort.

The tribe is adding a hotel, event center and more gaming space to the Isle Vista Casino. Construction will create a peak of 110 jobs and the new facility will create an additional 50 jobs.

"I think it’s going to enhance the tourism industry that already exists in this area," Chairwoman Rose Soulier told The Gitche Gumee Gamut.

The tribe hopes to finish the casino by late summer or early fall of 2011. Financing was provided by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota.
