Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation suspends work for casino event center

The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation of California has dropped plans for an event center at the Cache Creek Casino Resort.

The tribal council cited the uncertain economy as the reason for killing the project. It would have added 215,000 square-feet to the casino.

"The decision to suspend work on the event center project is certainly a difficult one, but we believe this is the prudent course amidst the ongoing concerns about the short and long-term economic environment in our region and across the U.S.," the tribe said in a statement, The Sacramento Business Journal reported.
