Navajo Nation hosts ground breaking for casino in New Mexico

The Navajo Nation broke ground on a $66 million casino in New Mexico on Friday.

The 85,000-square-foot Northern Edge Navajo Casino is located in Upper Fruitland, near Farmington. It's expected to open in January 2012.

"We've got casinos to build, we've got jobs to create," President Ben Shelly said at the ceremony, The Famington Daily Times reported "We are here to continue what our ancestors began. ...Today we must set the tone and confirm the promise of tomorrow."

The tribe has opened two casinos so far in New Mexico. The biggest one will be located in Arizona.
