Enterprise Rancheria waiting for BIA decision on casino proposal

The Enterprise Rancheria of California is still waiting for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to make a decision on its proposed casino.

The tribe plans to build a casino, hotel and other amenities on a 40-acre site in Yuba County. The BIA finalized an environmental impact statement for the project last August and the comment period closed in September.

It's not clear when a final decision will be made. "We continue to be hopeful," Charles Altekruse, a community relations manager for the tribe, told The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat.

The Obama administration has put a hold on certain off-reservation gaming applications while it develops a new policy. The Enterprise casino, however, doesn't appear to fall under the two-part determination process.
