Oklahoma is the fourth biggest state in the overall U.S. gaming market, according to the new Indian
Gaming Industry Report.
Since gaining voter approval for Class III gaming in 2004, tribes have seen phenomenal growth. In 2009, they took in $3.119 billion at their casinos, plus another $442 million in gaming-related revenue, putting Oklahoma just behind more established states like Nevada, California and New Jersey.
"When people hear about how big Oklahoma Indian gaming is, they say, 'How can that be?'" report author Alan Meister told The Tulsa World
With over 111 casinos in the state, Meister believes there is room for growth. There's a good upside for Oklahoma still," he told the paper.
