Blackfeet Nation includes casino in reservation smoking ban

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana has banned smoking at the Glacier Peaks Casino.

The Blackfeet Tobacco Free Act of 2005 bans smoking in public places. The casino was exempted for two years but tribal leaders were recently told that smoking was still being allowed there.

"The council believes we're putting our people's health above all," Chairman Willie A. Sharp Jr. told The Great Falls Tribune. "The opportunity will still be there to go and gamble, just minus the smoke."

In related news, the tribe plans to build a grocery store that will also offer gaming machines.
