Warm Springs Tribes not giving up on off-reservation casino

Leaders of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon haven't given up on plans for an off-reservation casino.

In March, the Bureau of Indian Affairs deemed approved a compact for the casino. The agency is still reviewing the environmental impact statement for the project.

In the meantime, the tribe is moving the Kah-Nee-Ta Resort & Casino to a new site near a major highway. The tribe broke ground a temporary $18 million facility yesterday.

"We're very much in need of revenue," council member J.P. Patt told KTVZ.
