Santee Sioux Tribe secures $20M Shakopee loan for new casino

The Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska has received a loan of up to $20 million from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota.

The money will be used to build a new Ohiya Casino and Lodge. The 25,000-square-foot facility will feature 400 Class II machines, bingo, 50-room hotel banquet facility, convenience store, a golf course and a clubhouse.

The two tribes have a long relationship, going back to the mid-1800s.
