First Nations can pursue lawsuit for ATM thefts at casinos

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority will be able to pursue a lawsuit against officials of a company that supplied ATM machines to First Nations casinos.

SIGA is suing six people who were shareholders or directors of the company. The First Nations allege the defendants knew, or should have known, that money was being diverted from the ATMs.

SIGA lost $1.2 million in the theft. One of the defendants, Alain Germain, pleaded guilty last year for his role in the crime.
