Sokaogon Chippewa Community eyes off-reservation casino

The Sokaogon Chippewa Community of Wisconsin is proposing an off-reservation casino, The Sheboygan Press reports.

The tribe is working with the owners of the Blue Harbor Resort on the project. The lakefront casino could feature 1,500 or more gaming machines and 24 gaming tables although a deal does not appear to be final.

"There are a lot of things we're looking at relative to the South Pier District," Randy Dzierzawski, the president of New Frontier Capital, which co-owns Blue Harbor, told the Press. "But all of our plans and programs are very premature."

The tribe's headquarters in Crandon are about 165 miles from the Blue Harbor Resort.
