Oklahoma tribes help local economy with gaming facilities

Indian gaming revenues are not just helping tribes provide services and programs to their members, they are benefiting communities across Oklahoma.

One of the biggest impacts is employment. The Cherokee Nation, the largest in the state, has put 3,000 people to work thanks to gaming.

The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians uses gaming revenues to sponsor local events. "The majority of the money we spend is here in Tahlequah," Assistant Chief Charles Locust told The Tahlequah Daily Press.
