Payment dispute on $43.7M expansion at Umatilla Tribe casino

A subcontractor is preparing to sue the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and non-Indian parties over a $43.7 million casino expansion project.

The tribe hired JE Dunn Construction to perform the work on the Wildhorse Resort & Casino. The company in turned hired Wright Hotel Development and now there's a dispute over $4 million in payments to subcontractors, including Future Tech Inc.

Dieter Konnegen, the president of Future Tech Inc., says he's owed $777,000 of an approximately $3 million contract. He's preparing to sue the tribe, JE Dunn, Wright Hotel and another firm.

“I’m going to have to close my doors here pretty soon because I can’t pay my creditors,” Konnegen told The Oregon Daily Journal of Commerce . “I can’t pay my people – I’m broke. This is killing me.”
