Florida Republicans planning to take a look at gaming next year

Republican leaders in Florida say they will take a comprehensive look at gaming in the state, including the Class III gaming compact for the Seminole Tribe.

The compact requires the tribe to share about $233 million a year with the state. But it expires in 2015 and lawmakers are being pressured to expand non-Indian gaming.

"We currently have a lot of gambling in the state of Florida, but we have to take a very holistic view," House Speaker Will Weatherford (R) told The Tampa Bay Times. "There needs to be clarity and direction as to where the state is going."
