Couple sues Miccosukee Tribe for failing to pay gambling taxes

A non-Indian couple is suing the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida for allegedly failing to remit taxes on their gambling winnings.

John Ricone and Francys Tolon-Ricone won about $5,500 during two trips to the Miccosukee Resort casino in 2008. The tribe reportedly subtracted a portion of the winnings for federal taxes but the Internal Revenue Service told the couple it never got the money.

The couple paid $1,621, including interest, to the IRS and they want the tribe to repay them.
