Graton Rancheria starts groundbreaking work on delayed casino

The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria in California began work on its long-delayed casino on Monday.

The tribe is still awaiting approval of its Class III gaming compact from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. And the tribe has to negotiate an agreement with Sonoma County.

The work 'signals the start of the nearly 900 construction jobs that will be created by the tribe’s project," the tribe said in a statement, according to news reports.

An opening date hasn't been set.
