City to spend more money in Fond du Lac Band casino dispute

The city council in Duluth, Minnesota, voted to spend another $250,000 to continue a gaming dispute with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

The city has already spent more than $1 million to try to force the tribe to share revenues from the Fond-du-Luth Casino. The courts so far have determined that a revenue sharing agreement the casino is invalid.

The city is also fighting the tribe's land-into-trust application for a hotel adjacent to the casino. A lawsuit has been thrown out as premature.
