Michigan court won't place non-Indian gaming question on ballot

A proposal to authorize eight non-Indian casinos in Michigan won't appear on the November ballot.

The Michigan Supreme Court refused to place the question before voters. The decision appears to put an end to the controversy after weeks of uncertainty.

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe are part of a coalition called Protect MI Vote that has opposed the proposal.
