Eastern Cherokees on track to finish $633M casino expansion

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is almost done with a $633 million expansion at its casino.

The Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort boasts 10 restaurants and eateries, an events center and a spa. Some portions have already been open to the public but the project will finally be complete by November or December, The Cherokee One Feather reported.

In related news, the tribal council approved plans for a $92 million water park and hotel. The goal will be to attract more families to the reservation.

The council is also looking at the salaries and compensation of the Alcohol and Beverage Control Commission, which solely provides services at the casino. Each member of the commission receives $25,000, an amount that has generated controversy.
