Ute Tribe still working on off-reservation casino bid in Colorado

The Ute Tribe of Utah is still working on plans for an off-reservation casino in Colorado.

The tribe is mainly based in Utah, where gaming its prohibited. But part of the reservation crosses into Colorado, near the town of Dinosaur.

With about 320 residents, the town is small, but a feasibility study showed potential. "I'm sure it would help the town's budget," Mayor Pro Tem Richard Blakley told The Vernal Express.

The tribe has yet to submit a land-into-trust application for the potential casino site. And it will have to negotiate a Class III gaming compact in Colorado.
