Mohegan Tribe making layoffs of more than 300 casino workers

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is laying off more than 300 employees and has replaced the chief executive officer at its casino.

Some 282 employees are being eliminated immediately at Mohegan Sun, The New London Day reported. Another 46 will be gone by the end of October, the paper said.

Also gone is CEO Jeffrey Hartmann, whose been with the casino since 1996. He will be replaced by Bobby Soper, who runs the tribe's commercial gaming facility in Pennsylvania.

In addition to the staff changes, the tribe is eliminating keno at the casino.
