California tribes withdraw from group promoting Internet poker

The California Online Poker Association has dissolved after the departure of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, a founding member of the group, and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

The group consisted of tribes and non-Indian card room. They were lobbying the state Legislature to authorize Internet poker games.

But leaders from both tribes cited a lack of progress in their decision to withdraw. Other tribes in the state were opposing their efforts.
