Voters in Oregon reject non-Indian gaming project as expected

As expected, voters in Oregon rejected a proposal to authorize a non-Indian casino.

The backers of The Grange Casino abandoned their campaign early last month amid opposition from tribes and state politicians. In the end, over 70 percent voted against Measures 82 and 83.

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe led a campaign to defeat the casino. They spent over $700,000 on the It's Still A Bad Idea Committee.

The Coquille Tribe also opposed the casino.
