Winnebago Tribe outlines plan for commercial casino in Iowa

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska outlined plans for a $122 million casino and hotel in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Warrior Casino & Hotel will feature a 291,000 square-foot hotel and casino with 800 slot machines, 25 table games, a 93-unit hotel, a 150-seat buffet, a 120-seat sports bar and grill, a fine dining restaurant and an 800-seat entertainment venue.

"It's going to create a tourist destination. It's going to be the place, you'll want to go down there," CEO Lance Morgan said at a presentation that drew more than 350 people, according to news reports.

The tribe and two other groups have submitted applications to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission for the casino. A decision is expected in spring 2013.
