Shingle Springs Rancheria resolves dispute over casino water

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians of California has resolved a dispute over water service to its casino.

The tribe was annexed to the El Dorado Irrigation District in 1988. But when the Red Hawk Casino opened in 2008, a dispute arose over restrictions over the agreement.

After going to court, the tribe and district reached a new agreement to address the issues. "We have worked for many years to simply be treated like any other water customer, and remove what are obviously unfair and we believe illegal restrictions on the tribe," Chairman Nick Fonseca told The Sacramento Bee.
